In honor of Earth Day earlier this week, we are celebrating our second annual Garden Day Extravaganza tomorrow - Friday, April 26! Just a friendly REMINDER to send your child with an outdoor flower or plant of their choice, so they can be a part of the garden forever.
Perennials are preferred, they come back every year, but annuals are still appreciated. Full sun is best, it gets really hot in Alabama, and the garden doesn’t get a lot of shade. It’s amazing to watch your children enjoy nature and enhance the outdoor classroom all at the same time. KIDS LOVE GARDENING!
Parent volunteers are welcome to help on Friday. We will be in the Outdoor Classroom from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at Ashleigh@Integrated-Wellness. net

Gift Cards Needed – TOMORROW
The PTA is requesting that families send in $5 or $10 gift cards (or cash) to be used for door prizes at the Teacher Appreciation Luncheon. Gift cards can be to any store or restaurant (e.g., Walmart, Target, Starbucks). Many businesses will donate if asked. Please send new gifts or gift cards to school with your child in an envelope labeled “PTA – Teacher Appreciation” by Friday, April 26. We thank you for your support for making next week EXTRA special for our EXTRA special staff!
Transition Meetings
With the support of the PTA, each group of grade-level teachers at Bear will have a transition meeting so that parents and students can meet the teachers. The purpose of the transition meeting is to give parents a broad overview of your child’s upcoming grade level. The teachers will share information regarding how next year will differ from the current year, skills that should have been mastered, and suggestions for summer practice so that students will not experience summer learning loss.
Transition meetings for current kindergarteners and 1st graders have already taken place. The Magnet Middle School forum held at the January PTA meeting served as the transition meeting for current 5th graders.
School Supplies
Prepaid School Supply forms came home yesterday and are due Wednesday, May 1. The fees range from $63-75 per student depending on the grade. School Supplies can be purchased online. In addition to School Supplies, you will have the option to add and prepay for a replacement Field Trip shirt and/or next year’s Theme Shirt. This will guarantee your child will have these items the first week of school. There will be a $10 late fee for any School Supply fees turned in after May 1st unless arrangements have been made for a payment plan.
